London Borough Market can be found in Southwark, London and I was told it is one of the largest and oldest markets in London.
A wide array of vendors await you, with smells and sounds that assault your senses in a good way.
As soon as we entered, there were beautifully displayed stalls with samples of cheese and breads as well as smoked meats, just to name a few, enticing one to buy.
On the outskirts of the market, one could find specialty foods, condiments and spices from around the world. My two favourites were Spice Mountain, where you can get any type of spice you wish and Oliveology (yes that was the name) where all kinds of Greek goods from Feta cheese and Olive oil, to pistachio nuts and all kinds of honey can be found. And of course olives!
There was even a stall with chicken and apricot sausages.
Apart from the abovementioned cheese, meats and breads, there were also fish stalls with an array of sea fare from salmon (fresh and smoked) to octopus, oyster and mussels, and an array of fresh produce.
And who can forget the wide assortment of places to eat.
As one wanders through the market, do not be alarmed by a very loud banging noise. It is just the train passing nearby.
I was not able to explore it in its entirety as time was limited but to sum it up, this market is one I will definitely visit again, the next time I am in London. It has so much to offer I think it is an experience all on its own.
As a side note: The market normally opens from 10.00 a.m until 5.00 p.m and is closed on Sundays.
