Hong Kong
If your next dream vacation involves eating exotic foods in a cosmopolitan world city, then you’ve basically just described Hong Kong!
With so many things to see and do, it’s no wonder that you’re considering traveling to Hong Kong for your next big trip. From bustling around the city streets to traveling high above the city for a breath of fresh air, there’s no shortage of activities to enjoy when you travel to Hong Kong.
Here’s just a small sample of the things you can do and see while you’re there.
What to Do
To give yourself some idea of the sheer size of Hong Kong, travel by tram to the top of Victoria Peak. It’s the world’s steepest tram, and at the top you’ll get a view of Victoria Harbor, the city of Hong Kong and Kowloon. Once you have your bearings, head out onto the harbor by boat, where you can take a daylong cruise of the city by water, complete with delicious foods and drinks. By day or night, don’t miss the city’s many street markets, where you can find everything from electronics to local foods. For shoes, head to “Sneakers Street” or Fa Yuen Street, and for antiques, try Cat Street. And for a taste of Chinese Buddhist culture, don’t miss the “Big Buddha,” called Tian Tan, on Lantau Island -- requiring another tram ride up a steep hill.
What to Eat
You’ll find lots of exotic foods everywhere you go when you’re in Hong Kong, but you simply must stop in for a few doses of dim sum. Served in small baskets and on small plates, dim sum includes dumplings, rice cakes another small delights that just keep on coming. The best way to experience a true dim sum restaurant is with a local or guide, who will know just what to order!
