Kingston
When to Visit
If you’re looking to visit Jamaica when there is little rain and cool temperatures, you should do so between December and March. You may also travel between February and mid-April so you can witness or participate in Bacchanal Jamaica which is the island’s annual carnival.
Things to Do
Known as the heart of Jamaica, Kingston is where you would find some of Jamaica’s earliest colonial architecture with the right blend of beauty. While there, you can participate in nature and wildlife tours, cultural tours, museum/ historical tours or relax in parks or on beaches found around the town.
Where to Go
Bob Marley Museum
When in Kingston, be sure to check out the Bob Marley Museum. This is where the “Father of Reggae Music” resided until his death in 1981. His home and studio (Tuff Gong recording studio) is now the location of this museum which showcases the reggae legend’s personal items including his guitar and stage costumes, press clippings, a photo gallery and even the evidence of the bullet holes from the failed assassination attempt on him.
Devon’s House
A visit to Devon’s house is a must. Filled with the island’s rich history and cultural diversity, this 19th century attraction is perfect for those interested in the history of Jamaica. This well-known landmark was once the architectural vision of Jamaica’s first black billionaire; George Stiebel. The mansion also attracts ice-cream lovers as it is home to one of the best ice-cream parlours on the island, serving 27 natural flavours.
